Anthony Michael Perricelli, 78, of Murrysville, PA, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 surrounded by his three children. He was born June 16, 1945, in Latrobe, PA, son of the late Antonio and Antoinette (DeBone) Perricelli.
Tony was a proud graduate of Penn State University which instilled a lifelong love of PSU and Nittany Lion sports. He had a brief extension of his high school wrestling career that ended up with “those other kids were really good”. After earning his engineering degree (and a fly fishing credit or two). He worked for IBM as a sales executive and served in the United States Army Reserves. He then transitioned into an entrepreneur who founded or co-founded two successful insurance advisory firms, Gateway Financial Group and Tenth Dot Financial, which he successfully sold to HUB Insurance International, later in his career. He was always very passionate about his work and this transitioned into his infectious ability to help others in the real world. He would always be checking in with family, friends, and clients. He had a selfless ability to always ask about others, see how people were doing and see if he could help them out. He was a role model for his children, grandchildren and countless friends. He loved to network, mentor and develop relationships.
He was an active member of Edgewood Country Club and the Duquesne Club both in Pittsburgh, PA along with Belfair Country Club in Bluffton, SC. Tony suffered from ulcerative colitis for many years, but never let it bring him down, instead he turned it into an opportunity to help others and served on the board of the Western PA chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCFA). He was a long-time parishioner of Mother of Sorrows Parish and served on several church committees through the years. On any given Sunday, he could be found with a friend or family member at Dick’s Diner in Murrysville.
His life was defined by his love of family, friends and his late wife of 54 years, Anita. He knew that there was “no such thing as a free lunch” and “it is what it is”. He loved a simple plate of spaghetti and meatballs with the occasional milkshake. We believe that he holds the record for views of The Godfather and Top Gun. Tony and Anita were fortunate enough to travel the world. But they were blessed to travel Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh and Murrysville to see the events of their grandkids.
He always had a smile and a kind word to say. He was selfless and will be missed by many. He was most proud of the accomplishments and activities of his children, seven grandchildren and others, never his own.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Anita Biasucci Perricelli as well as his parents, brother Frank Perricelli and sister Tomasina Perricelli. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Scott (Susan Gegnas) Perricelli, Dr. Brett (Julie Cagney) Perricelli, Cara Perricelli Zahn (Tom Zahn) and seven grandchildren; Nicholas, Julia, Christopher, Sophia, Thomas, Olivia & Elizabeth.
