Lowell T. Rowley, 84, of Murrysville, passed away on March 14, 2024, at Canterbury Place, Family Hospice in Pittsburgh. He was born October 22, 1939 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Clifford and Melissa (Filer) Rowley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. Rowley in 2013; and four brothers, Arthur Rowley, Clifford “Lad” Rowley, George “Cork” Rowley, and Dale Rowley;
Lowell leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, faith, and love for family. He served as a volunteer fireman for the White Valley Fire Department and as an Enlisted Seaman in the US Navy Reserves. Lowell was an active member of his community, volunteering for the Phipps Conservatory, serving on the Franklin Regional School Board, and as a council member in Murrysville. He also enjoyed a notable professional career with US Steel as a Chemical Analyst which spanned over 35 years. He was also a devout Christian, committed to his faith and church community. Lowell cherished his role as a dutiful son, (grand)father, husband, and brother to many, always putting family first. A lifelong learner, Lowell will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to service, his love for family, and his faith in Christ.
Lowell is survived by two children, a son, L. Thomas (Jen) Rowley of Mt. Lebanon; and a daughter, Lara (Kyle) Miller of Murrysville; five grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah, Ethan, Ana, and Colin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 3 p.m.to 7 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. A Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Murrysville. Everyone please meet at church. Interment will follow at Murrysville Cemetery.
