Music by The Piano Brothers

Gloria A. Moriarity, 79 of Murrysville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.  She was born March 4, 1939 in East Liberty to the late Carmen and Carmalena Buonpane DelGrosso and daughter of the late Raymond and Amelia Arroyo.  In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Moriarity in 2016.  She was the Administrative Assistant at Donna’s School of Dance in Murrysville and a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville.  Gloria’s greatest joy were her family and friends. She loved sharing memories of her childhood.  The Sunday dinners at her parents, the long summer evenings on the front porch visiting with friends, and her favorite part of childhood…growing up with her little brother Joe.  In her youth, Gloria loved to roller skate.  She spent weekends at the skate rink and even entered local competitions.  If you ask her children, Mike, Keith and Donna, they will tell you she was the hardest working Mom in the world.  Gloria’s example of hard work, responsibility, and love of family guided her children to go on to become entrepreneurs.  Her children were her heart. Her home was a welcoming place, when you crossed the threshold, you were family.  Gloria became an honorary Grandmother to Madelyne and Marissa and loved every minute of sharing extra desserts when mom said no, spoiling them at Christmas and celebrating their achievements.  Gloria was always ready to welcome you to her family and once she did, you were forever a part of it.  Gloria held many jobs, but it was her daughter, Donna who launched her career as the Administrative Assistant at Donna’s School of Dance.  For twenty-one years, dancers and parents were greeted by “Miss Gloria’s” smiling face at the front desk, a space that will now be impossible to fill in the hearts of all past and present students and teachers.  The studio was her second home and she was so proud of all who danced and taught there.  Gloria loved her pets.  She rescued her “Chloe girl” three years ago and the two of them have been constant companions ever since.  Chloe brought Gloria so much joy over the past few years.  Her family wishes to thank her dear neighbors and friends.  Thank you, Chris, Nick and Carol, for your friendship and assistants to our mom over the past few years. Thank you, Francine, for being the truest definition of a best friend.  A very special thank you to Charlie for your care, comfort and companionship to our mom and to us over the past few months.  You are all special to us because you were special to Mom.  We want to recognize the Hillman Cancer Center and Shadyside Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time.  Gloria’s family and faith in God gave her the strength to fight.  Her faith in God also gave her the peace and comfort to put herself in his hands.  She is at peace now and we will forever miss her.  She is survived by her children; Michael (Lisa) Lisk of Carnegie, Keith (Fiance Amy) Lisk of Ligonier, and Donna (David) Zerjav of Murrysville; two grandchildren, Madelyne and Marissa; two great grandchildren, Emma and Eli, and a brother, Joseph (Kathy) Arroyo.  Gloria is also survived by a nephew, Erik (Pam) Arroyo; a niece, Kelly Arroyo (Amy Reed); a great niece, Summer Arroyo, and a special friend, Charlie Dillmore.  Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville.  Additional visitation will be at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville on Saturday from 9- 9:45 a.m. with a funeral mass at 10 a.m.  Entombment will follow in Mt. Carmel Mausoleum, Verona.  In lieu of flowers, we graciously ask that you consider a donation to The Hillman Cancer Research Center in Gloria’s name.  http://hillman.upmc.com/difference/supporting/make-a-gift/how-to-donate.
