Robert McKee Stickel, 91 of Murrysville died suddenly on October 7, 2019.  Bob, as he was known to most people, held a special place in the hearts and minds of his family, his friends and his entire community in Murrysville.  He was the family patriarch and a rock of stability for everyone around him.  He was born December 7, 1927 in Connellsville, PA to William A Stickel Sr. and Helen McKee Stickel, he was the oldest of 4 children; Robert, Joan, Bill and Fred.  After his mother’s tragic early death, his father remarried Bertha Stickel, who brought along a stepbrother, Robert Hartshorn.  Bob held a Bachelors in Chemistry from Bethany College and a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Oregon.  After two years serving in the United States Army, he spent most of his working career with United States Steel Corporation in the Pittsburgh area. He met his wife Charmaine in the Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands and settled in Murrysville in 1956.  They had two children; Scott and Mark.  Bob and Charmaine were married for 66 years.  The entire family spent many wonderful days fishing, hunting, swimming and picnicking in the highlands.  Over the years, Bob was active in the Murrysville community.  He was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church of Murrysville for all of his years, and a loving follower of Christ.  This was continuously evident through his actions and deeds no matter where he was.  He was instrumental in the formation and development of the Murrysville Medic One Ambulance Service and participated in governance activities until his death.  He was also a lifelong member of the Murrysville Lions club and served as president during two separate terms.  After the tragic loss of his oldest son, both he and Charmaine became active members in the local chapter of the Compassionate Friends – an organization dedicated to helping parents cope with the loss of a child.  He is survived by his loving son Mark (Barbara), 3 grandchildren; Luke, Jon (Karly) and Jaimi, as well as his loving niece Debbie whom he spent much time with.  He is preceded in death by his wife Charmaine, son Scott, sister Joan, and brothers Bill and Robert.  Bob will always be remembered as a caring, giving Gentleman who lived life in service of others.  Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methiodist Church, Murrysville.  Everyone Please meet at the Church.  Interment will be private in Mill Run Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Murrysville in Bob’s name and memory.
