Music by The Piano Brothers

Andrea A. (Polenavitch) Crossey, 55, of Plainsboro, NJ, formerly of Monroeville, PA passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 surrounded by her family after a valiant fight with her illness.  She was born on July 16, 1962 in Pittsburgh, daughter of Andrew and Anna Miller Polenavitch of Monroeville.  A 1980 graduate of Gateway High School, she also earned a BS in Public Policy and Management ('84) from Carnegie Mellon University (where she met Larry).
She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Monroeville prior to moving to New Jersey with her family.  She worked as a Software Quality Assurance Manager for the Beneficial Corporation in New Jersey for over 14 years, and most recently was a Senior Consumer Product Tester at Firmenich Inc. of Plainsboro, NJ.  In addition to her parents, Andrea is the beloved wife of Lawrence M. “Larry” Crossey; loving mother of Nicole, Zachary and Lauren; Sister of Andrew Polenavitch II and his wife, Sherie Polenavitch and Brian Polenavitch; Sister-in-Law of Constance (Crossey) McGovern and her Husband, James McGovern.  An avid pet lover, she was a "mother" to her GSD Cookie and 2 cat-kids Bella and Charcoal - they, like everyone who knew her, miss her terribly. Beyond her career, she was a devoted wife and mother who was extremely involved in her children's lives via PTA, class mother, chaperone and photographer.  If there was an activity happening in one of her kids lives, you could count on Andrea to be there, likely filming the action for posterity.  An avid reader, Andrea embraced the nuances of modern life and was an avid social media participant and likely expert.   Music was one of her many interests and she could identify pretty much any song title or group of even the most obscure music from the 70s to present day.  Her smile and laugh could brighten even the darkest of rooms.  She will be missed deeply.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville.  A funeral mass with be held on Wednesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Monroeville at 11 a.m.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter in Andrea's name.

Condolence's to Larry and his family. Even though I never meet Andrea, I could tell by the stories Larry would tell on occasion about her at work how devoted he was to her and her to him. It was also very clear that she was a great Mom to Nicole, Zach and Lauren. My children are about the same age so Larry and I would often exchange stories about helping our children navigate the college search process and I could tell that Andrea was as deeply involved with this as my wife was. So very sorry to hear this sad news.
