Our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Esther Rauscher, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the age of 87 at Redstone Highlands Retirement Community in Murrysville, PA.  Esther was born and raised on the south side of Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of John and Agnes Korp, and sister to five siblings.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951.  It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Jim Rauscher, and their marriage of over 65 years was an inspiration to all of us.  Left to miss her and cherish her memory are her children, Diane Ganor (Tim), Gary Rauscher (Betsy) and Laura Axelson (Roy); grandchildren, Joey Ganor, Kathleen Nelson (Brandon), Michael Rauscher, Thomas Rauscher (Liz), Joshua Axelson and Erik Axelson; and great-granddaughters Mia and Margot.  Esther enjoyed an active childhood as a young girl, playing basketball and volleyball in high school and after.  She instilled a love of biking, traveling and pingpong to her children, and was an enthusiastic and hands-on playmate to her grandchildren.  She and Jim moved several times during Jim’s career living in the Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago areas before settling down in Middleburg Heights in retirement.  They had many travel adventures during retirement but managed to always remain an active presence in their children and grandchildren’s lives, despite the miles separating them.  We appreciate the wonderful care and kindness provided by the Redstone nursing and hospice staff over the past two years and in particular during the last few weeks.  They are truly heroes and angels in our eyes.  Due to the corona virus, a celebration of Esther’s life will be held in Cleveland at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be in Esther’s name to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Care Fund at

Esther was a friend of my sister Cora (Boesger) Benes who just passed on November 17, 2020. They both were graduated in 1951 from Lincoln High and played basketball together. Please accept my condolences.
