Dear Jonnotti Family,

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Jonnotti’s passing.  You have my sincere condolences.

I am a 1988 graduate of North Allegheny, and Mr. Jonnotti was hands-down one of my favorite teachers.  He had a passion for teaching and was willing to set and keep high standards and expectations for us.  He challenged us to achieve and to be better than we thought we could be. There are few greater gifts that can be given to a teenager.  I do not just remember him, I remember him fondly and with profound appreciation.  He was only present in my life for two years, but he made an impact that has lasted a lifetime.  He made me expect more from myself.  I am forever grateful for that charge.

I live out of state, and I regret not being able to pay my respects in person. This note is inadequate to this task.

With deepest sympathy,

Ross Matlack
NA Class of 1988

PS:  This has not been grammar-checked, and I am counting on Mr. Jonnotti to overlook any gaffes with a wink and a smile.

I was a teacher with Vic at North Allegheny, and I extend my prayers and positive thoughts to his family.  Vic was an amazing teacher and great chairperson in our English Department, and leaves a legacy at NA.

Dear Jonnitti Family,

It is with great sorrow that I read about Vic's passing.  He was the consummate professional. I admired him as a colleague and valued him as a friend.
