Ben Bernacchi, age 97, a long time Murrysville resident, died in his sleep on February 1, 2021. He was born July 21, 1923 in LaPorte, Indiana, the fourth of seven sons, to Angelo and Enis Bernacchi. He was a World War II veteran participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Chemical Engineering degree from Purdue in 1947. He retired as a Corporate Executive from U.S.Steel in 1983. After retirement he became a Certified Financial Planner, CFP, and was serving clients up until his death.He was married to Eleanor Bauer in 1947 and celebrated 73 years of marriage in 2020. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Ginger Armpriester of Massena, NY and Linda Lazzaro of New Alexandria, PA, five grandchildren; Adrian (Renee) Armpriester, Andy (Cari) Armpriester, Tony (Lianne) Armpriester, Jennifer Lazzaro and Scott Lazzaro and seven great-grandchildren as well as two surviving brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Shirley Bernacchi.Throughout his life Ben had a strong work ethic, which he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was on the advisory board at Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children for many years. He published two books on financial planning: Concepts of Personal Financial Planning and Concepts of Investment and Retirement Management.Visitation is 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. 3103 Lillian Ave, Murrysville, PA. A Blessing service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
