Bert Krushinski Obituary

Bert King Krushinski, 92, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at
Redstone Highlands in Greensburg.  He was born November 1, 1932, in Export, PA,
son of the late Bert and Virginia (King) Krushinski.  In addition to his parents, he is
preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally L. Krushinski, and his daughter, Linda Kay
Berkheiser.
Bert was born in Export and is a 1950 graduate of Export High School. He played on
both the basketball and baseball teams in high school and also starred with Sally in the
senior class play. Upon graduation, Bert enlisted in the US Air Force and served four
years which included one year in Korea. He and Sally were married August 4, 1953 on
the Dow Air Force base in Maine.
Bert attended the University of Pittsburgh on the GI Bill beginning in 1957 and
graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering in December of
1960. A few weeks later, he started his career with PPG Industries.
While at PPG, Bert managed several successful construction projects for the glass
division in places like Festus MO, Fresno CA, Carlisle PA, and Wichita Falls TX. In
1980, he was assigned as Project Director for the development and construction of PPG
Place. He worked closely with noted architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee and
managed a wide range of contractors throughout the four-year design and construction.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s he traveled to Taiwan several times representing PPG
in their efforts to grow business in Asia. Bert retired from PPG as Director of Glass
Engineering in July 1995.
Bert spent the better part of his retirement at Edgewood Country Club as a 10-handicap.
He was also an avid Pirates and Steelers fan as well as a big supporter of Pitt.
Bert is survived by his three children, Terri Krushinski of Pittsburgh, Scott (Sarah)
Krushinski of Wexford, and Amy (Mark) Hicks of Park Ridge, IL; his grandchildren,
Helen Krushinski, Logan Krushinski, and Jerzy Hicks; his sister, Ida Verona; and his
good friend, Chris Girouard of Sarasota, FL.
Visitation for Bert will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hart
Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville.   A Memorial Service for Bert will be held at 11:00
a.m. on Wednesday July 30, 2025, at the chapel at Redstone Highlands in Murrysville. 
Interment will be private with his family.
