Boyd A. Kessinger, 95, of Murrysville, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was born September 13, 1928, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Boyd and Zella (Kennedy) Kessinger.
Boyd attended Carnegie Tech where he earned his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering. He retired after 30 years from Westinghouse Electric as a Professional Engineer. Boyd took special pride in his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, where he easily touched the lives of over 1000 young scouts, more than 100 of them achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He hiked the trails at the Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico 18 times. His last trip at just under 80 years young, he always said those trips were the best adventures of his life. His last trip he was so proud to share with all of his grandsons. He enjoyed vacationing on the shores of Lake Erie at his cottage in Linwood Park, Vermillion, Ohio, where he enjoyed golf, waterskiing and sailing.
Boyd is survived by his loving wife of more than 66 years, Janet (Anderson) Kessinger, a daughter, Lael (Garry) Simmons, a son, David (Michelle Clise) Kessinger, both of Murrysville, and his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
