Charles J. “Chuck” Saller Jr., 86, of Harrison City, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. He was born March 24, 1936, in Altoona, PA, son of the late Charles and Mary Hipp Saller. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Neil R. Saller; two sisters, Joanne (Calvin) Kough and Rosemarie Saller.
Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Atlantic Building Services. Chuck was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish in Murrysville as well as the Knights of Columbus. Chuck loved life, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with friends and family. He trained as a chef at the Culinary Institute of America and did his apprenticeship at the Everglades Resort in Florida and also was a chef at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. Chuck was always a kind and generous individual who would do anything for anyone.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret “Peggy” Saller; two children, Charles J. Saller III and Susan (Bob) Stoner; three grandchildren, Jameson, Preston, and Landon; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mother of Sorrows Church. Entombment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
