Chester Klingensmith Obituary

Chester Klingensmith,88, of Murrysville passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Forbes Regional Hospital.  Chester attended Turtle Creek High School, then spent seven years serving in the Army, where he earned the rank of Sargent.  Upon his return home, he and his wife of 66 years married in 1957.  He continued to serve his country at the Nike Site Missile Program.  When his son was born, he chose to begin a new career and opened a barbershop on Old Route 22, where he served the Murrysville area for many years.  In 1969, he began a career driving for Greyhound.  He took an early retirement at the age of 55 and spent the rest of his lifetime traveling with his wife, shooting trap and sporting clays, and following the Franklin Regional Panthers many athletic teams.  He was the beloved husband of Carol Klingensmith.  He is survived by his son, Robert (Susan) Klingensmith, and his grandchildren, Maggie (Anthony) Donatelli, Michael Klingensmith, and Annie Klingensmith.  Chester was a man of many talents who always had a story to share.  He was strong-willed, determined, and had a strong bond with his family.  His grandchildren could rely on him to fix anything from broken tea sets to kitchen chairs.  He was at all local sporting events with his bullhorn, cheering on not only his grandchildren, but anyone wearing blue and gold.  Funeral services for Chester will be private with his family.  For online condolences, please visit www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com.
