Darlene Louise McCormick, age 89, passed away Wednesday May 15, 2024. She was born in Pittsburgh to the late Theodore F. and Mary (Braun) Hengstenberg.She earned an associate degree in business from Thiel College and worked for a local water company right out of school. She was a stay-at-home Mom to her children and also sold Longaberger Baskets for many years. When her children were older, she went to work as a secretary at Ellson Equipment Company and later worked for WeightWathchers until her retirement in 2020 at age 85.
She enjoyed tennis, bike riding, bird watching, and vacationing at the Ocean. She was an avid reader. She was a lifelong servant at the churches where she was a member, leading Youth Group, teaching Sunday School and leading short term Mission trips.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David J. McCormick. She is survived by her three children, Jonathan McCormick, Jill (Bob) Ellson and Christopher McCormick; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and her sister, Judi Flickinger.
Visitation will be held at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024. A funeral service will be held at New Life Presbyterian Church, Harrison City PA on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone please meet at church.
