David R. Brunner, 84, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, with his children by his side. He was born on March 27, 1941, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Bonshire) Brunner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Sylvia (Janello) Brunner.
Dave was a legend in his own right. He graduated from North Catholic High School and went on to receive degrees from Point Park University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a lifelong Pitt fan. In addition to having a successful career at Westinghouse as a controller, he began his second career as finance director at Pittsburgh Action Against Rape for 12 years. David met his wife Sylvia at Westinghouse, and they married in 1969. They went on to live in Pensacola, Florida for three years, and returned to Murrysville again where they settled. Dave loved living in Murrysville, had many friends and gave back to the community as a school board director and at Medic One. David's greatest joy were his children and 4 granddaughters. He lived to make them laugh and entertain them.
Dave is survived by his two children, Jill (Rick) Roda of Mars, PA, and Ryan (Stephanie) Brunner of Plum; his loving granddaughters, Emily (Ryan), Libby, Grace and Avery; his brothers, Raymond (Luella) Brunner of Mars, Matthew (Donna) Brunner of the North Hills, and Michael Brunner of the North Hills; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and former colleagues.
Visitation for Dave will be on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville, followed by a blessing service at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., interment will then follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont with military honors accorded by the United States Army.
