David Wayne Pearce-Smith, 72, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born April 7, 1954, in Paterson, New Jersey, the son of the late Amos Wilbur and Barbara (McClellan) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Meredith Pearce-Smith, a brother, Daniel Smith, and a sister, Bonnie Sliwinski.
David was a 1972 Graduate of Passaic Valley High School. He then served three years as a Medic in the Army, stationed in Germany. Upon his discharge, he attended Rutgers University College of Engineering, graduating in 1979. He attended Law School at McGill University, completing his degree in 1984. He was employed as a patent attorney at several New York and Boston Law Firms. He ultimately joined the Patent Law Division at Alcoa Technical Center in New Kensington. After his retirement, he spent much time with his three sons and two grandchildren.
David is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Anne Pearce-Smith; his three sons, David Scott (Heidi Anne) Pearce-Smith, Eric Matthew Pearce-Smith, and Mark Pearce Smith; his two grandchildren, Henry and Madeleine; his brother, Thomas D. Smith; his two sisters, Valerie Higbee and Wendy Ferrara; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass for David will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Murrysville Christian Concern (MC2) in Export, or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Monroeville, in David’s name.
