David Anthony Strauss, 43, of Ross Township, passed away January 24, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 27, 1982, in Pittsburgh, the son of Professor Robert P. Strauss and Celeste (Meade) Strauss.
To know David was to love him. He was someone we all aspired to be like; comfortable and completely authentic to himself, he showed everyone he met how you can live a life laid back while supporting and loving everyone for who they are, faults and all.
David knew from an early age, (about 5 yrs old) that he wanted to work with computers. This never changed the older he got - only in what way he would specialize. After graduating from the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science, he finally ended up in Robotics, which he enjoyed, especially when things worked the way he wanted them to. His skill with computers was very much appreciated by his colleagues, who often called on him to help with a nagging problem. He was an avid reader with a wide range of interests from history to science fiction/fantasy, from biographies to philosophy, anime, and all manner of technical readings. As you can imagine, he amassed a great deal of knowledge that he was open and excited to share with all he loved. David’s intellect was boundless and his ability to share it with everyone as an equal, without ego, opened the door for some fantastic conversations. He enjoyed video games and shared his love of gaming with those he cherished. Whether it was helping his Dad set up Sim City for his classes, playing Kingdom Hearts and Zelda well into the night with his little sister, gathering his mom and big sister to play virtual table top games, or his weekly video gaming sessions with friends; David always connected everyone in fun and interesting ways. David had a phenomenal sense of humor. He could keep you laughing seemingly without effort and without any detrimental thoughts about anyone. There was no "roasting", just clean fun! Most important to us, he was the center of our family, the glue that bound us together. We are very close to one another and he is the one who helped us achieve that. As we all know, and as David would often say (jokingly)- he was, is, and forever will be everyone’s favorite.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his two sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Strauss, and Elena Nicole (Strauss) Peraud, brother-in-law, Olivier Peraud, his two nieces, Madeleine and Liliane, and countless other loved ones.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville.
