Dorothy Jean (Petrusky) Benevento

Dorothy Jean “Dot” Benevento, passed away peacefully at 90 years old with her family by her side.  She was born August 24th, 1932, in North Braddock, Pennsylvania.

She was a graduate of Scott High where she met the love of her life, the late Fiore Benevento.  Dorothy and Fiore enjoyed traveling around the country and the world. Their adventures included hiking, camping, canoeing, and visiting family. Dorothy was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Export. She volunteered in the community for Meals On Wheels, Garden Club, Loaves and Fishes, Altar Rosary Society, and the Senior Center. 

Dorothy cherished her six children, Sharon (George) Detar, Rebecca (Stephen) Ott, Robert (Linda) Benevento, Mary Beth Sharik, Thomas (Margot Zahner) Benevento, and Lori (Alex) Gerus; her 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed gathering with friends and family, swimming in the pool and playing cards.  Most of all, she gave her family the gift of enjoying and appreciating life in its fullness. She will be missed and remembered fondly.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be 9:30 Monday at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Export.
