Dr. Pierce " Pete" Soffronoff

Pierce “Pete” Soffronoff, M.D., 73, of Murrysville, PA, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by all of his family, on Saturday, March 12, 2022, after battling cancer. He was born January 14, 1949, in Philadelphia, son of the late Ernest Carl Gustave Soffronoff and Jane Kynett Coggeshall Soffronoff.

Pete attended Baylor University, medical school at University of Texas Galveston, and practiced obstetrics and gynecology at Magee Women’s Hospital for more than 30 years. Following retirement he worked with patients in substance misuse programs. He loved his family, history, music, nature, Bethany Beach DE, and especially enjoyed fishing. He was an honorable man with a great sense of humor. A true patriot, he loved America and its Constitution. 

Pete will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Strachelle “Straw” Barry Soffronoff; three loving daughters, Strachelle Barry Wyns and her husband LT Andrew Wyns CHC USN, Alexandra “Landra” Jane Liebling and her husband Joseph, and Cesny Piper Soffronoff; four wonderful grandchildren, Levi, Olivia, and Elisheva Wyns, and Jane Liebling. He is also survived by two brothers, Ernest “Ernie” Carl Gustave Soffronoff Jr., M.D. and his wife Patty, and Carl Pierce Soffronoff and his wife Fusako “Kay”; nephew Ernest “Ern” Carl Gustave Soffronoff III (Catherine), nephew Jacob William Soffronoff (Jill), and niece Paula Soffronoff.

His family held a private burial with arrangements entrusted to Hart Funeral Home, Inc.
