Edward F. Petras, 89, of Murrysville, went to rest in Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, as Florence, his wife of 56 years, held his hand in prayer to Divine Mercy at 3:00 p.m.  He was born April 19, 1932, in McKeesport, PA, oldest son of the late Frank and Anna Evans Petras. He was the protective big brother to siblings, Mary Ann (Chuck) Cardani, Frank (Joan) Petras, Dorothy (Robert) Morrisard and the late Albert Petras. He was a loyal friend to all those he met while growing up in Glassport. He won a scholarship to Carnegie Technology and majored in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the American Association of Cost Engineering. In 1955 Ed was a member of the Fourteenth Chemical Officer Corps. As an Army Officer, he was assigned to the United States Chemical Corps for training and was assigned to Army Base Mildenhall, Lakenheath, England. After only three dates, Edward married Florence Remas in 1965. They built a home in Murrysville and raised four children. Edward was an avid reader who satisfied his thirst for learning in a number of ways. Together, he and Flo danced through life and traveled every continent except for Antarctica. In their retirement, they visited numerous places across the globe, but no miles traveled were more important than those spent to enjoy time with their four children, Anne (David) Dischner, Maria (David) Kristo, Eileen (Mike) Vander Woude and Edward (Kirsten) Petras; and their 10 beloved grandchildren, Caroline, Emma, Abby, Nate, Paul, Josh, Grant, Liam, Nick and Dane. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery & Mausoleum, North Versailles. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jubilee Soup Kitchen, PO Box 42251, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
