Eileen Clark Obituary

It is with great sadness that our dear Mother, Eileen A. (Ott) Clark passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021 at Redstone Highlands, Murrysville.  She was born in Turtle Creek, July 4, 1927, daughter of the late Henry J. Ott and Bessie (Long) Ott.  In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles “Chuck” Clark; her sister, Audrey Simpson, and her brother, William Ott.  The Ott clan moved to Murrysville in 1948, purchasing four lots on Old Wm. Penn Hwy., and built homes that were eventually given the title “Ottville” by the the Roto Magazine in 1962.  Upon graduation from high school in 1945, Eileen was hired by Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh as many of their male employees were away at war, putting her in the vanguard of women entering the workforce for the first time.  She entered a 10-week training program, eventually becoming a Draftswoman.  During her 10 years there, her beautiful tenor singing voice led to an offer to join a Sweet Adeline’s group called The Debutones, which were in demand for performances around Pittsburgh and surrounding states. While at Westinghouse, she met her husband Chuck, and they were married in 1955.  They were long time, active members of Murrysville First United Methodist Church where Eileen sang in the choir (often solo) for decades.  She also sang a myriad of events and weddings. She continued the musical tradition of her Dad, also playing the piano and cello.  As a devoted and loving mother, she taught her children many of the things she loved to do such as sewing, cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. Yearly family vacations included Mr. Wayne (Helene) Smith and Mr. Robert (Charmaine) Stickel families who were very dear friends.  Eileen is survived by her children, Dr. Kevin D. Clark Phd. of Athens, GA, Cheryl (Michael) Starr of Monroe, CT, and Daina (Walt) Coury of Wexford, PA.  She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Katie (Robert) Yarger of Danville, PA, SGT. Nathan (Jenny) Starr of Stratford, CT, Rachel V. Starr of Los Angeles, CA, Walter Coury of Atlanta, GA, Capri Coury of NY, NY, Chadd Coury of Pittsburgh, PA, and Hunter Coury of Boston, MA.  There will be no service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Murrysville First United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association in Pittsburgh, PA, in Eileen’s name.  www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
