Elizabeth M. (Pechar) Matvey

Elizabeth M. Matvey, 80, of Murrysville formerly of Monroeville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her home. She was born October 8, 1943, in Wimbledon, England, daughter of the late Fred and Winifred (Bartlett) Pechar. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry S. Matvey and a sister-in-law, Joan Pechar.  

Prior to her retirement, she worked many years at Westinghouse Nuclear Parts Division. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids especially trips to the beach. Liz was a lifelong fan of Steelers football and car racing. She was a graduate of Penn Hills High School. 

Liz is survived by two sons, Larry (Kim) Matvey, Mike (Kim) Matvey; four grandchildren, Arlyn, Luke, Jordan, Simon; two brothers, John (Carol) Pechar and Fred Pechar; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. Parting prayers will be 9:15 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Entombment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
