Ellen (Green) Torrance

Ellen Torrance, 72, of Export, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was born September 6, 1950, in Bellefonte, PA, daughter of the late James and Louise Green. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Judith (Phillip) Sieg. 

Ellen, a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School, obtained her degree graduating from Penn State in 1972 with a B.S. in Human Development. She found lifelong friends as a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.  She was first employed as a Social Work Specialist in Philadelphia for the Commonwealth. Thereafter, she was employed for 25 years by the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh eventually retiring as the Customer Services and Volunteer Manager.  Ellen served as a tireless aide and board member with numerous civic and charitable organizations throughout her entire life.

Ellen is survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Torrance; two sons, James (Natalie) Torrance and Joseph (Ginny) Torrance; five grandchildren, Eloise, Calvin, Priscilla, William and Vivian; a brother Joseph Green. Visitation is from 1:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2023, at which time a memorial service will be held at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville, PA.
