Eugene A. Fischione, 102, of Export, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born December 17, 1920, in Palmer, PA, son of the late Emidio and Maria (Panzera) Fischione, immigrants from Italy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie (Albanese) Fischione; his second wife, Lois (Cinicola) Fischione; and six siblings: Anthony (Thelma) Fischione, Bernard (Helen) Fischione, Rose (John) Peters, Philomena Fischione, Christine Fischione, and Vincent (Margaret) Fischione.
After graduating from Westinghouse High School and serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, Eugene became a machinist and watchmaker. Eugene worked at the U.S. Steel Research Center in Monroeville where he built electron microscope instrumentation. After founding Fischione Instruments, Eugene began manufacturing products in his garage workshop. The company greatly expanded and is now internationally recognized. In retirement, Eugene indulged in his passions of fishing, baking bread, politics, storytelling, and travelling, all while continuing to invent.
Eugene will be dearly missed by his son, Paul Fischione; three grandchildren, Andrea (Dominic Smith) Fischione; April (Michael) Luczko, Paul Christian Fischione; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Isaac, Everett, and Kaia; stepsons Anthony (Elsie) Cicone, John (Barbara) and Peter (Barbara) Hale, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mother of Sorrows Church, Mother Teresa Outreach Fund, 4202 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, PA 15668. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023, at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. Parting Prayers will be held 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass held at Mother of Sorrows Church.
