Evelyn “Gig” Marie Cochran, 95, of Monroeville, formerly of Murrysville, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at The Willows Nursing Home in Oakmont. She was born October 28, 1928, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late George and Lillian (Holmes) Rippin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah “Boots” (Donald) Wirick and Ruth “Bunny” (William) Pritts.
Evelyn's life took her on an adventure that spanned across the vast landscapes of this country. Soon after marrying William Cochran, they moved to Montana where they started their family. Over the next decade they moved to the cities of Salt Lake City, Utah, Denver, Colorado, and finally settled in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. Each move was a testament to her adaptability and strength in the face of change. Evelyn's commitment to her family was unwavering. As her children grew older, she embarked on a career as a Bank Teller at PNC Bank. Evelyn found solace and joy in her passions. She was an avid reader, finding comfort and inspiration in the pages of countless books. She delighted in crafting delectable desserts, especially her famous pies and cinnamon rolls. Her culinary creations were a reflection of her love and generosity, and they brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to taste them.
Evelyn is survived by three children, Bruce (Cristina) Cochran, Gary (Barbara) Cochran, Karen (Mark) Masterson; nine grandchildren, Stephen (Missy) Cochran, Chris Cochran, Sean Cochran, John Wyche, Michelle Wyche, Cory (Nicolette) Cochran, Bryce (Brittany) Cochran, Erin (Jake Kershisnik) Masterson, Shannon Masterson; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Samuel and Brylee; and several nieces and nephews.
