Frank Ribar, 83, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at UPMC East Hospital in Monroeville. He was born August 21, 1942, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Frank V. and Catherine (Malazich) Ribar.
Frank grew up on East Ohio Street on Pittsburgh's Northside. His first language was Croatian. Frank lived two doors down from St. Nicholas church, where he served as an altar boy. He was an avid member of the Boys Club at Sarah Heinz House and eventually became president of their alumni association.
Frank attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied economics and was on the staff of the Pitt News. It is there that he met his wife of 56 years, Margarita. Frank's career included working as a sales representative for the Caloric Corporation and as a technical writer for Westinghouse.
Frank enjoyed travelling the world with Margarita, visiting 20 countries together. Frank's greatest pride was his three children, Edward, Juliana, and Teresa.
He is survived by his loving wife Margarita Gomez Plata; his son, Edward F. Ribar; his two daughters, Juliana M. Ribar and Teresa Y. (Tony) Caracciolo; a brother, Joseph Ribar; a sister, Kathleen Buric; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Frank will be held on Sunday April 19, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. Parting Prayers will be held on Monday April 20, 2026, at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Mother of Sorrows Church in Murrysville. Entombment will then follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville.
