Freda V. (Kozakovsky) Smith

Freda V. Smith, 87, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully May 8, 2026, at Redstone Highlands in Murrysville.  She was born on December 27, 1938, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Stephen and Mary Kozakovsky.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Lee Smith.

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Freda was an avid gardener who found joy in simply having her hands in the dirt. She was a talented seamstress and crafter and a lifelong animal lover. She and Edward cherished their travels together, exploring the country and the world and creating memories that, together with the time she spent with her grandchildren, remained among her greatest joys.

Freda is survived by her two daughters, Donna Darge and Lisa (Michael) Landi; and her four grandsons, Ryan (Tanya) Darge, Jason Darge, Thomas Landi, and David (Gillian) Landi.

Services for Freda will be private.  If desired, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, www.dementiasociety.org, in Freda’s name.
