Gary Kenneth Bowser, age 81, of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 surrounded by the family who dearly loves him. He was born on August 23,1944, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Murrysville.
He was the son of the late Kenneth and Luella Bowser and was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Jewell, and his brother, Robert A. Bowser.
Gary shared his life with his high school sweetheart, Barbara, and their two sons, Gary (wife Lisa) and Kurt (wife Amy). He was very proud of his grandchildren Riley, Brett, Brock, Kaitlyn (Mike), Matthew, Jack, James, and Ashley.
He was happiest when the family was together at the beach or watching their sports. Great times were spent at his camp, “Buck’s Rub,” with family and many friends, including childhood friends from Kittanning.
He founded Bowser Automotive in 1983 after acquiring Al Schwartz Pontiac Subaru, which at the time had 30 employees. Through his dedication to treating each and every customer with dignity and respect, he grew the business to over 450 employees, creating one of the largest auto groups in Pittsburgh, known as the Power of Bowser.
He was a member of Holiday Park United Methodist Church and served on the Franklin Regional Foundation Board, as well as a board member for the annual Stanley Marks Golf Classic. He was a proud sponsor and supporter of Pittsburgh professional and local high school sports, especially Franklin Regional, where his grandchildren attended. He was also a dedicated supporter of the Stanley M. Marks Blood Cancer Research Fund and, in 2023, was honored with the Humanitarian Award presented by Stanley Marks.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Holiday Park United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Everyone please meet at the Church.
