Helen Elizabeth (Downs) Balliet

Helen Elizabeth Downs Balliet, 68, passed away in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, on July 25, 2023, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Born in Wapella, Illinois, to S. Eugene Downs and Helen Mary Olmsted. Helen is survived by her two stepsons, Alex and Adam Balliet, her five sisters, one brother, and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Helen, also known as Elizabeth, was an accomplished anesthesiologist, having earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanford University. She practiced in Pittsburgh and volunteered her expertise in Africa. Her life was rich with passions that included arts, culture, outdoor adventure, and travel.

Remembered fondly by family and friends for her vibrant and adventurous spirit, Helen's legacy of kindness, tenacity, and zest for life will continue to live in the hearts of all those she cherished. Her influential presence as both a dedicated professional and a loving family member will be deeply missed.
