Hjordis Sissel Anne (Evjen) Bramham

Hjordis Sissel Anne Bramham, 87, of Murrysville, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at her home. She was born September 19, 1936, in Narvik, Norway. She is preceded in death by her birth mother, Hjordis (Abelsen) Evjen, and her parents, Kristian and Ragnhild Evjen, her 3 brothers, Ole Kristian, John, Per Jakob; and her first husband, Stanley Bramham.

Sissel’s early childhood was spent in occupied Norway. This greatly formed her life and she published a book in 2020 describing the experience. As a young woman she went to Denmark to “housewive’s school” and passed on many of those skills to her daughters. She traveled to England to become an au pair and met her first husband Stanley. They moved their young family across the ocean several times living in Bergen, Norway; Sarnia, Ontario; and Penfield, NY before settling in Murrysville, PA.

Sissel loved to play tennis, golf, bridge and Ludo (with her grandchildren). She worked in Real Estate for many years and always remained interested in houses. She kept a warm, welcoming and immaculate house filled with flowers and art, most of which she painted herself! The love of her life, Ben, made her life complete and they had many traveling adventures together also enjoying candlelit dinners outside on the porch on summer evenings. Our dear mother, wife, mormor, farmor, tante bosse and friend will be greatly missed and held in our hearts.

Sissel is survived by her husband, Bernard "Ben" Breen; three children, Alison (Rod Malloy) Bramham and Steven Bailey, Clive (Anne Samuelsen) Bramham; Vanessa (Alan) Seba, 10 Grandchildren, Cait (August Wolf) Bailey, Kai Bailey, Kamilla (Amos) Mainville, Kalle (Jennifer) Bailey, Erik (Catherine Nevin) Bailey, Adrian Bramham, Benjamin (Kristin Hermine) Bramham, Marita Seba, Jerimiah Seba, and Lewis Seba; two great grandchildren, Lisbeth and Savina; two sisters-in-law, Tove and Uschi; and dearest lifelong friends Greta, Kari, Henny and Elsa.
