Jackie Rugh Obituary

Jackie W. Rugh, 79, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born March 20, 1946, in Murrysville to Oliver W. and Sarah Jane (Glunt) Rugh. After the passing of his mother in 1953, Jackie was lovingly adopted and raised by Norma (Geiger) and Alex Rycman. Following Alex’s death, Norma later married James Rugh. Jackie grew up under the loving care of Norma, Alex, and James, whose combined love and guidance helped shape the man he became.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as by his brother, Eddie Rugh; his sister, Helen Hill; and his brother-in-law, Fred Hill.

Jackie was a retired Buildings and Grounds Specialist with the Veterans Administration and a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. One of his greatest joys was coaching baseball and soccer for his two sons and countless young athletes across the community, where he shared not only his knowledge of the game but also his patience, guidance, and encouragement. He treasured time with his sons, moments he held close to his heart: fishing with Jason on long, peaceful days that meant the world to him; cheering proudly at as many of Michael’s soccer games as he could; and he enjoyed spending time hunting at camp, a pastime he truly loved.

Above all, Jackie was a dedicated husband, a cherished father, and a loving brother and uncle. Family meant everything to him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His legacy of love, commitment, and quiet strength will live on in the lives of all who knew him.

Jackie is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine (Kmetz) Rugh; his sons, Jason Rugh and Michael (Mellissa) Rugh; his brothers, Tony (Dawn) Rugh and Corey (Cheray) Rugh; his sister, Tammy Rugh; his sister-in-law, Kathy Rugh; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A private visitation will be held for Jackie’s family.
