James "Jim" Christy Kunkle

James “Jim” Christy Kunkle, 92, of Murrysville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  He was born September 14, 1933, in Delmont, the son of the late Edward Paul and Sarah Elizabeth (Christy) Kunkle.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rose T. (Majewski) Kunkle in 1994, his sister, Brenda K. Meyers, his in-laws, Albert and Gertrude Majewski, Stanley and Evelyn Majewski, and Frank and Bertha Brozek; his nieces, Janet Baran and Donna Sekowski; and his companion, Joan Gipson.

Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving our nation as a sergeant for 26 years before his retirement.  He was a Field Service Engineer with the Nuclear Division of Westinghouse with 40 years of service before retiring.  He loved gardening, and he loved peaches, especially his peaches.  Some of Jim’s other favorites were his King Cavalier dogs and working out at Dean’s Gym.  Jim was a very patriotic man and was always appreciative of his extended family and friends.

Jim is survived by his brother, Dennis (Margaret) Kunkle of Florida; his nephew, Dennis (Kathy) Majewski; his niece, Arlene (Ron) Morsetti; nephews, Dennis Baran and Clare Sekowski; the family of his late companion Joan Gipson; his companion, Marlene Kossack and her family; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church in Murrysville, (everyone please meet at the church), followed by entombment at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.
