James Russell Thomas, 93, of Murrysville, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. He was born December 25, 1927, in Pitcairn, son of the late Harry W. Sr., and Elda J. Brendlinger Thomas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David Michael in 1967; a brother, Harry W. Thomas Jr.; and two sisters, Donna Mae Lacock and Elda C. Kebbel. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII and was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church in Murrysville. Prior to retirement, he was a Production Expediter for the Elliott Company in Jeannette. He was a member of the Pitcairn Alumni and the Family of God group of Greensburg. He was a member of the Elliott Retirees Group and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4226 of Murrysville. James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Clara M. Koper Thomas; a son, James E. Thomas “JT”, of Murrysville; many nieces nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be held 10:30 AM Thursday in the funeral home followed by an 11AM Funeral Mass which will be held at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville.
