Jonathan Chrillo Obituary

Jonathan P. Chrillo, 43, of Greenfield, formerly of Murrysville, passed away on April 13, 2026.  Jonathan was born on October 18, 1982, in Pittsburgh. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, grandson, nephew, and cousin.

Jonathan (but don’t call him Jon or you owe his mom 25 cents) had an especially close bond with his parents and sister, Kelly, rooted in lifelong love, loyalty, and friendship. His relationships with his large family were also an important and cherished part of his life including his nieces, brother-in-law, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Jonathan graduated from Franklin Regional High School in 2001. He was a proud graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, earning a BA in Political Science and a minor in English. He made many great friendships in State College and loved to reminisce about those fun memories. He later earned his JD from Duquesne University and practiced law.

Jonathan was a loyal friend, comedian, athlete, musician, cook, and animal lover. Jonathan will be remembered for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and the easy, clever banter that he shared with those closest to him.

Jonathan had a talent for cooking and shared that talent with his family and friends. He took great pride in his Italian and Polish heritage, and alongside his father with the rest of his family there to assist, perfected his Grandmother’s spaghetti sauce and pierogi recipes, as well as his mother’s linguini with clam sauce recipe. He made many other delicious signature recipes, including fresh pesto and red curry mussels, delighting many family members with the results.

Jonathan was a devoted and knowledgeable sports fan. As a child, he had every Penguins Stanley Cup VHS tape memorized and continued to be an avid Penguins fan. He even played hockey himself during high school and was a talented player. He enjoyed going to Pittsburgh Pirates games and some of his happiest moments were spent watching the Pittsburgh Steelers games with family. He was a proud Nittany Lion and devoted Penn State football fan and took great pleasure in a lighthearted rivalry with his parents, who are lifelong Pitt fans.

He adored the dogs in his family and felt joy in their companionship. His rescued Chihuahua, Shelby, was loved like his child. He also loved his sister’s dog, Bella, as his own, and was the go to pet sitter for many family pets.

Jonathan loved living in the city of Pittsburgh. He enjoyed bike rides, beach trips, camping trips, and traveling internationally, especially his family’s trip to France. Music was also an important part of his life. He taught himself to play the guitar, bass guitar, and mandolin.

Jonathan is survived by his parents, Joseph R. Chrillo and Linda A. (Clark) Chrillo; sister, Kelly (Jeff) McArdle; his two nieces, Abby and Emma; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.  He is also survived by his dog, Shelby.

Jonathan was a gift to those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply and forever missed.
