Leila Anne Young Welborn, 88, of Murrysville, passed away, Wednesday, July 27, 2022. She was born May 10, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, daughter of the late James H. Young II and the late Ruby Irlene Young. She married Gerald E. Welborn on February 20, 1955. Mother of three children, Brian K. (Marie) Welborn, Lori A. (Nathan) Duer, and Lisa A. (Joseph) Sinegra. Her family consists of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Leila graduated from Topeka High School. She worked as a stenographer for Security Benefit Life Insurance Company, Topeka, Kansas and later as a medical claims examiner for C. B. Tracy and Associates, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Throughout her life, she enjoyed volunteering as a kindergarten helper, Meals-on-Wheels delivery person, and hospital volunteer.
Leila met Gerald at a youth fellowship meeting at Otterbein United Brethren Church in Topeka. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville, Pennsylvania.
Leila had two brothers, Gene Paul and James H. (Beverly) III who have preceded her in passing.
Leila’s retirement years were filled with many travel adventures and time spent with her beloved grandchildren. She teased her grandchildren and was teased back.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville. Everyone please meet at church. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 3916 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville, PA 15668 in Leila’s name.
