Lois Jane (Williams) Smith

Lois “Jane” Smith, 80, of Murrysville, PA, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at her home. She was born on February 6, 1941 in Indiana, PA, daughter of the late Ward and Mildred Thomas Williams. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Tom Williams. She was a member of the Oakmont Presbyterian Church, where she adored singing in the choir. She also was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Red Hatters and numerous informal social groups that joined together for breakfasts, games and card playing. She loved a good party. She taught at Franklin Regional School District, cared for children at Parents Day Out and worked at the Murrysville Community Library. She was an avid collector of purses and shoes, and sent hand-written thank you notes for even the smallest courtesy. She will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 60 years, Thomas Alan Smith; three children, Christy Smith, Sean (Trish) Smith, Alan (Christi) Smith; four grandchildren (who affectionally called her “Ging Ging”), Crystal, Chelsea, Mackenzie and Chloe; a sister, Carol (Dave) Donaldson and a sister-in-law, Jan Williams. Jane found her greatest joy in whatever each day would bring, and taught her family to cherish family and friends. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. A Celebration of Jane’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Avenue, Oakmont, PA 15139.
