Louis Bernard Biondi Jr. passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022. He was 96 years old. Lou was the son of the late Louis Bernard Biondi Sr. and the late Julia (Bruno) Biondi. He was the brother of the late Rose Alvin, the late Dolores Alvin, the late Concetta Biondi and the late Nellie Dentici.
Lou married Florence Pompa, his high school sweetheart, in 1949, and together they built a joyful life centered around their close knit family and traveling around the world. He is survived by Florence; and their children, Louis (Alison) Biondi III, Susan (Tom) Costa and Dan (Patti) Biondi. Lou and Florence are blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with two additional on the way.
Lou was known for his athletic prowess, hard work, iron will and gentle nature. He served in the Navy as a signalman on Tank Landing Ship LST 1045 which was deployed in the South Pacific in World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his bachelor of science degree in economics. In 1964, Lou founded Biondi Sable Lincoln Mercury, which later became Biondi Automotive Group. Throughout its 58-year history, Biondi Lincoln won countless awards and national recognition by Ford Motor Company. Lou worked at the dealership well into his 90s. Today, the business is run by his two sons, Louis and Danny.
Lou approached all of his life pursuits with energetic passion. He spent hours tending his large garden, especially the banana pepper plants, which he transformed into his famous hot peppers with Italian cheeses and pork stuffing. He loved to prepare many Italian specialty dishes, including braciole, chicken cacciatore and homemade sausage and wine. Lou cherished the old Italian way of living and passed on many enduring family traditions to his children and grandchildren.
