Mallory Matthews Obituary

With broken hearts, we are mourning the loss of our beloved daughter and sister, Mallory Ann Matthews, 39, of Allison Park. She was born September 18, 1984, and taken peacefully in her bed on April 1, 2024. She is survived by her precious son, Liam Michael Owens; parents, Kim and Mark Matthews; her brother, Colin Matthews; her sister in marriage, Erin Matthews; and their wonderful son, her nephew, Ezra Matthews. She is preceded in death by both her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Mallory’s love for Michael Owens and his family was everlasting and the child they shared was the most important thing in her life. From the beginning they made Mallory and us feel like treasured family members. We are so Blessed to have the Owens family in our lives.

Our family was the center of all our lives. Her brother has always been her best friend, and as he married one of her other best friends, it made everything so special to combine the Matthews and Takac families. Kathy and Don treated Mallory and Liam as their own, and we are so grateful for how they took our girl and her son into their hearts. As her parents, we were blessed to have had Mallory in our lives... in all the happy, joyful, loving, funny, sad, and scary times. She made us better people. Due to medical circumstances from the Covid Pandemic, Mallory became the center of our world again. No words can express the gratitude we had to spend that extra time with her. The void she left can never be filled.

Over the years, she accumulated the best of friends and coworkers. We are humbled with gratitude to all of them who supported and loved her. Erin D. and Kevin, Heather and Travis, Steph and Cary, Jocelyn and Nick, Liana, Priya, Angie, Becky and Dave, Katie M, the Takac family, the Mulcahy family, the Svidergol family, and the Karosic family. Our extended families, her Aunt Carol and Uncle Tony, cousins Valarie and Vannesa, the Matthews families, and for Mark’s sister Joy and all the Dolan/Edkins family members. Thank-you for all the times you reached out with acts of Love and Kindness over the years. We know there are so many more not mentioned, but it is just so hard not to cry just making this list.

Living with diabetes was never easy for Mallory, but she never complained and generally took it in stride. All of us knew her struggle and tried to always be there for her. Thanks to the Harsco Company for making Mallory’s last year a valuable one. She loved the challenges and the trust they placed in her. We will always be grateful for the confidence and pride she felt when talking about her new job.

It’s no cliche to say that Mallory was many times too honest and kind for this world. It was pouring down rain when we got the news of her passing, we felt angels were weeping for our loss. We know she is in our God’s loving hands and has joined her beloved grandparents. We know we will see her again, pain free and beautiful.
