Margaret Schake Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" L. (McKeag) Schake, 87, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Dorothy (Bethune) McKeag, she was preceded in death by her brother, James McKeag. Peggy leaves behind her husband of nearly 65 years, Thomas C. Schake, whom she married on July 29, 1961.

Her legacy of love continues through her daughters, Kelly L. Schake and her fiancé Robert Lesniak and Kristin M. Schake Tanzilli, her husband Stephen Tanzilli and grandson, Owen.

A proud 1957 graduate of Turtle Creek High School, Peggy worked at Westinghouse for several years before dedicating her heart and time to her family as a wonderful stay-at-home mom. She had a vibrant, joyful spirit, enthusiastically embracing her Irish heritage, cheering loudly for her Pittsburgh Steelers and yelling BINGO as loud as she could. Peggy was a woman of immense kindness and generosity.  An active member of the Red Hat Society, the Murrysville Woman’s Club, and Meals on Wheels, she had a wide and very cherished social network and countless dear friends.   Peggy was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends will be received for her memorial visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed immediately by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., 3103 Lillian Ave., Murrysville.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Murrysville Meals on Wheels, 3202 North Hills Road, Murrysville or at this link https://www.murrysville-mow.org.
