Mary (Garrity) Giammusso

Mary Giammusso, 92, passed away on June 16, 2025. Mary was the youngest child of her parents Edward and Ellen Garrity. She was the dear mother of Maryann Mirzabeigi and the loving grandmother of Steve, Bob, and Michael. Mary was also the proud great grandmother of her beloved Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Ambrose (Sonny) Giammusso, and her siblings, Margaret Heffron, Ellen Dormer, and Edward Garrity.  In 2015, Mary left her home in South Philly to be closer to her family in the Pittsburgh area. Although Philadelphia was always home in her heart, she thrived in her new home, where she was a cherished and respected member of her senior community. It was in this community where she enjoyed visits from her family, which included several nieces and nephews. 

Mary was a devoted mother, who joined her two sisters, Margaret and Ellen, in their employment at GlaxoSmithKline. Despite her often challenging work, she maintained her position for over 20 years to provide a good life for her daughter. Mary adored her son-in-law and three grandsons. She joined her family on every vacation, especially to her favorite parts of the Southern Jersey Shore. Mary had countless memories of treating her grandchildren to mini-golf, amusement rides, ice cream, and beach days. She was excited to see that the tradition was also enjoyed by her great grandson, Carter, who brought her endless joy and laughter. Contrary to her Irish heritage, she made delicious pizzelles and pizza for her family to enjoy. 

Mary will be remembered as a loving and generous mother and grandmother, who made generational impact on her grandsons. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann, and her son-in-law, Dr. Nemat Mirzabeigi as well as numerous friends and relatives who were lucky to know and love her. Her family will forever cherish wonderful memories shared together and grateful for Mary's dedication to her family.
