Mary Paula (DeCotis) Hatam

Mary Paula (DeCotis) Hatam, 67, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December
5th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born December 29, 1955, in
Newport, RI, daughter of the late Michael and Angeline (Cinalli) DeCotis. In addition to her
parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Christine Paquette. She was the fourth of five
children.

Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years, Reza Hatam; two children, an older son, Ben
Hatam and his fiance Courtney Yaksich and a younger daughter, Maria Monier (Barry) Bissiere; four grandchildren, Rayenah (17), Evelyn (12), Tucker (11), Millie (10); two
grandsons on the way, several nieces and one nephew. She is also survived by a brother, Peter
DeCotis; two sisters, Ann Marie (Joseph) Rosa, and Michelle (Nicholas) Bellezza.

Mary was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She also was a loved sister, aunt and
friend. She nourished people with her strong Catholic faith, with her main purpose to help in any
way she could. She was passionate about education, loved dancing, cooking, and family
gatherings. She never missed an opportunity to be with those she loved. She began her career as
a registered nurse, eventually obtaining a Master of Science degree in nursing from the
University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked as a clinical nurse specialist for
many years at different hospitals, various practices, as well as her own practice.
Our beloved Mary will always be missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Two viewings will be held on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, at Hart Funeral Home in
Murrysville, Pennsylvania. The first viewing is to be held from 2-4pm, with the second viewing
to be held from 6-8pm. Parting prayers will be 9:45am, Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, at Hart
Funeral Home. The Catholic Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am, Wednesday at St.
Mary’s Church, located at 5900 Kennedy Avenue, Export,
