Mary Elizabeth (Doyle) Michels

Mary Elizabeth Michels, 87, of Monroeville and formerly of Plum Borough, passed away June 8, 2023, at Concordia of Monroeville.  She was born July 7, 1935, in Wilkinsburg, PA, daughter of the late Howard R. Doyle Sr. and Mary Jones Doyle.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Michels, Sr.; a son in law, Richard Oskin; a grandson, James Kostra; a brother, Howard R. Doyle Jr.; and her stepmother, Josephine Doyle Steiger.

Mary was a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish.  Prior to retirement, she was the office manager for Airkem/Airwick, the company she and Tom owned, and then she worked at Giant Eagle in Murrysville in the hot foods department for 15 years.  Mary loved her family, friends, home, and garden, she was a kind, loving, devoted caregiver and she was incredibly hard working and thoughtful. 

Mary is survived by five children, Sandra Oskin, Lynn (John) DeSimone, Beth Youngo, Thomas (Christine) Michels Jr., and Daniel (Tara) Michels; 15 grandchildren, Richard (Jessica) Oskin, Matthew (Jamie) Oskin, Stefanie (Christopher) Ruane, James R. Stotler, Daniel (Kelly) Stotler, Jennifer (Tim) Stotler, Andrea Kostra, Michael (Leslie) Youngo, Thomas J. (Tiffany) Michels, Michelle Michels, Kyle (Ciara) Michels, Tyler Michels, Jonathan Michels, Rachel (Andrew) Rininger, and Krystal (D.C.) Henry; 16 great grandchildren, Ella, Beatrice, Grant, Scarlett, Isaac, Leo, Mary, Kaylee, Kenzie, Eliza, Arabella, Isaac, Zoey, Xander, Xavier, and Max.

We are grateful to the entire staff at Concordia for their professionalism and their care and compassion. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville.  Parting prayers will be held 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Mother of Sorrows Parish.  Interment will be private.
