Michael Budd, a resident of Murrysville, passed away on 9 June 2024, at the home of his parents, Clare and James Budd. “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return”. In his 37 years on the earth Michael exemplified this truth. Although his challenges made learning difficult, he was a premier teacher. He gave countless caregivers, teachers and friends the opportunity to learn the importance of unconditional love, patience and kindness.
His brother Stephen was his best friend. They enjoyed going to the zoo and going to local attractions such as the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, the Heinz History Center to see the exhibit devoted to Fred Rogers, and Franklin Regional football games. Michael enjoyed greeting people he met in the community with a friendly smile and “Hi, I’m Michael!”. While walking with us on local trails, where he would gently guide Stephen when he lagged behind. He brought out the kindness in everyone he met. Throughout his life he was blessed with patient and kind caregivers who loved him and cared for him as if he were their own.
Michael enjoyed outings with Aunt Victoria and holiday gatherings with his brother Jonathan and his wife Kaitlynn. He enjoyed watching football and basketball on TV with his uncle Justin Woshner, with whom he lived.
Michael attended Clelian Heights School and later the Clelian Center where he did small parts assembly, monitored everyone’s coming and going, and delivered Meals on Wheels. The support and love he received there were immeasurable. Outings to the mall and Goodwill to get a “cat” were always his preferred ways to spend his time. He enjoyed bowling at Hillview Lanes each Saturday, and caring for his pony, Goose, at Stoneybrook Foundation in Acme, PA.
Michael, you will be with us for “dinner in the dining room”, “cake” and with every punt and extra point attempt that you imitated while watching football games. You will be with us each Sunday in church, gesturing along with the priest, and each Christmas as we travel to the tree farm to cut the perfect Frasier fir. We will fondly recall past Christmases as we hang your blue ornaments, “baby in the bed”, and Mickey Mouse ornaments.
