Michael D. "Mike" Poholsky, 65, of New Alexandria, died suddenly in a tragic auto accident on Saturday, October 7, 2023. He was born on October 29, 1957, in Kittanning, PA, son of the late Victor and Carol Ann (Culleiton) Poholsky. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandparents, Bill and Theresa Culleiton and Mary and Andy Salak.
He was raised in Plum Boro and later in life moved to the Westmoreland County area. Mike had many talents. He was a great artist at a young age, then picked up a guitar and learned to play, was a trapper and hunter for many years through high school and after as well. Mike took an autobody class during his junior and senior years of high school and could take any old junker and turn it into a new car. He worked with Waste Management before starting his own business called Driveway Dumpsters, which he had just retired from.
His kindness to all people was a true blessing to him. He always had time for anyone who needed it, especially his children, as they were everything to him. He raised them to have the same work ethic that he had.
Mike had many dogs, but when his daughter Courtney wanted to ride horses, he decided to start building a small farm for the animals. That turned into four horses at one point and then came the goats. And more goats because his wife Kelly loved goats and he got her what she wanted. He did all this through the help of Courtney and learned along the way how to take care of all these farm animals. Mike always loved his dogs. The last special dog he had was Clarice, a gift from his daughter.
We all knew that Mike liked his food. He had his favorites which were hoagies and pizza, but the best meals were the holidays. By his second or third plate the towel came out and the main shirt came off. He was a specialist at cooking the holiday turkeys and gravy was always his pride.
Mike was one of the kindest, polite, and caring people you will ever meet. Mike, you will be missed greatly by all who knew you. You made those around you better people.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kelly (Mignogna) Poholsky; his children, David (Meredith) Poholsky, John Poholsky, Jordan Poholsky, Courtney (Chelsea) Poholsky; stepchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Beard, Jamie Gribshaw; grandchildren, Celia Poholsky, Calen Gribshaw, Chris Gribshaw and Jovie Beard. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Alicia) Poholsky, his niece, Kelsey (Joe) Coogan; in-laws, Gini and Bill Mignogna and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
