Nancy J. (McElwain) Rauso, 85, of Murrysville, passed away February 13, 2024. She was born March 12, 1938, in Union, NJ, daughter of the late Gilbert and Edna (Hopton) McElwain.
Nancy attended Union High School and Grove City College, where on the first day on campus she met the love of her life and future husband, Jerry Rauso. She was a cheerleader and sorority member for four years. Upon graduation, Nancy accepted an English teaching position at her hometown high school. Nancy and Jerry were married in 1961 and she moved to Pittsburgh and taught English for two years at Gateway High School before resigning to raise her two loving daughters. After living in Penn Hills for thirty-seven years, Nancy and Jerry moved to Murrysville. They resided there for ten years before deciding to move to Naples Lakes Country Club in Naples, Florida. While living there, Nancy met and established many wonderful friends. After thirteen years, they moved back to Murrysville to be close to family. Throughout her many years, Nancy enjoyed sports, including bowling and golf. She also was an accomplished bridge player, loved music and was an excellent dancer. She was always involved in organizing groups and activities, especially for golf and bridge. One of Nancy’s favorite activities was organizing a yearly weekend getaway at Seven Springs Resort for a special Churchill High School music department parents’ group. Amazingly, Nancy did this for some twenty-five years.
The most important thing in Nancy’s life was her beautiful and loving family. She was always so proud of her two beautiful daughters, Sherri and Linda. She always said that her girls gave her two amazing sons in law, four awesome grandchildren and an adorable great grandson. They definitely were the delight of her life. Nancy will be truly missed by her beautiful and loving family and very devoted longtime friends.
Nancy is survived of her loving husband of 62 years Jerry Rauso, two daughters, Sherri (Richard) Nowicki, and Linda (Daniel) Megaludis; four grandchildren, Matthew (Stefanie) Nowicki, Eric (Becki Barrett) Nowicki, Nicholas (Franki Berarducci) Megaludis, and Alexa (Alex) Vignone; and a great grandson, Dominic Nowicki.
