Nancy Veyo Obituary

Nancy Cameron Veyo of Murrysville, PA, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 26 at Redstone Highlands after a long struggle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease.  She is survived by Stephen “Steve”, her devoted husband of nearly 57 years; daughters Rebecca (Richard) Owen of Reston, VA and Sara Veyo (Mark Burzlaff) of Canton, MI; grandson Carson Owen of Reston, VA; and sister Linda Ellinger of Los Altos Hills, CA.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Esther Cameron.

Nancy was genuinely warm and kind, always exhibiting quiet inner strength, sense of humor and a ready smile. Nancy attended Greensburg-Salem High School and enjoyed planning class reunions until the time of her illness.  She earned a BS from Carnegie Tech in Home Economics while serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Carnegie Tartan newspaper and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.  After graduation Nancy worked as a buyer for Horne’s department store in Pittsburgh and would fondly recall her many buying trips to New York City.

Nancy and her husband Steve were introduced by mutual friends and married in 1969.  They enjoyed travelling together both within and outside the US.  Nancy was a life member of AAUW and served in executive roles including president of the Murrysville Area branch.  She was involved in a variety of AAUW activities including the book sale, international food group dinners, and investment club.  Nancy was a voracious reader, and an enthusiastic member of multiple book clubs.  She loved playing bridge and participated in several bridge clubs.
