Ralph G. Tielsch

Ralph G. Tielsch, 92 of Murrysville, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Concordia of Monroeville. He was born June 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Ralph and Hazel Lease Tielsch.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pat (McGee) Tielsch; a granddaughter, Dana Tielsch; a son-in-law, John Byrne; and seven siblings, Kenneth, Joan, Jack (Nancy), Ruth, Lucille, Donnie (Dot), Jimmy; a sister-in-law, Nancy Tielsch, and a brother-in-law, Jim Shook.

Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle to many. He had a wonderful full life. He started his career right out of high school signing a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and traveled the country playing minor league baseball. After a career ending injury, he was a milkman for Sealtest for 19 years. Then landed a job at the P & LE Railroad where he retired as the Safety Manager. Ralph loved playing golf and going to garage sales with his grandkids. His first greatest love was his wife, Pat. His second greatest love was the love he had for his family. He loved to have gatherings of family and friends, telling stories, jokes, and magic tricks with the kids.

Ralph is survived by three children, Janet (Robert) Cleghorn, Larry (Joanie) Tielsch, Judy (Kenny) Byrne; nine grandchildren, Bradley, Aiden, Gregory, Justin, Colin, Laura, Jennifer, Brendan, Andrew; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by nine siblings, Barry, Marty (Nancy), Geri (James), Charles “Butch” (Marianne), Cassie, Francis “Dewey”, Patty (Tony), Debbie (Dennis) and Tommy and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tiny Cause, 131 Columbia Avenue, Vandergrift, PA 15690. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. A Funeral Mass will be 11 am Monday, July 24, 2023, at Our Lady of Joy Church in Plum. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
