Randy S. Marts

Randy S. Marts, 73, of Murrysville, passed peacefully at home with his loving wife and children by his side on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, leaving our world to become a Christian Soldier with the Army of the Lord.

Randy was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on December 18, 1949, to Walter S. and Lillian Jean Enterline Marts of Murrysville.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Homer T., and Lou Ellen Heider, his nephew, Dr. Michael Pezze, and his niece, Beth Ann Heider.  Randy is survived by his wife, Bonnie Marts; daughters, Christina Marts (Heiner Leber) of Tunbridge, Vermont, and Jennifer Smith (Christer) of Harrison City, a son, Xavier Marts (Celia) of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and his sister, Linda Jean Marts of Murrysville.  Randy will also be remembered by his extended family, Homer T. Heider (Kathy), Don Heider (Patricia), Jim Heider (Barbara), Vincent Heider (Barbara Jo), Barbara Jean Pezze (David), his many nieces and nephews, his family in Indiana, Dayton, Echo, Clarion, and Sharon PA, and his family of firefighters.

Throughout his life Randy worked for Westinghouse, Medrad, and Securitronics.  He was a proud United States Army veteran, serving with the 107th Field Artillery for six years during the Vietnam era.  Randy enjoyed helping his family with projects around the house and being outdoors fishing and hunting.  His greatest passion was his 55 years of service in the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company #1 (Station 20) where he had a storied career.  Randy held every line staff position at the fire department as well as Trustee and President of the organization.  In his service he was most proud of the 40 years he spent cooking for the annual carnival.  His hot sausage was LEGENDARY!

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Murrysville Alliance Church with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company 3235 Sardis Road, Murrysville, PA  15668. www.MurrysvilleFire.com.
