Raymond Vincent Burke, 84, of Murrysville, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Murrysville Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. He was born May 2, 1937, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Gustave and Anna Olup Burke. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia (Thomas) Chardello. Ray graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation for over 32 years where he worked on the Naval Nuclear Submarine Program and in several Westinghouse Nuclear Divisions with focus on building nuclear power plants. Ray and his family spent two years living in the Philippines with Westinghouse International Projects Company during construction of the Philippine Nuclear Power Plant.  He was Project Manager of the Korean Cogeneration Project and supported design and engineering to the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic.  After retirement, Ray continued to take contract assignments with Westinghouse in the U. S. until he finally hung up his badge in 2014. He was a member of the Over the Hill Golf Club and the Polish Falcons, was an active athlete who played softball and basketball in his younger years and recently enjoyed the skills and challenge of playing Texas Hold-Em (Rivers Casino).  Until she met Ray, his wife Pat had never met an engineer who could dance! Ray was a diehard fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams – not a day would go by without a game on the radio or TV or a Pens/Pirates/Steelers cap on his head. Ray will be missed by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Burke; three children, Dana Longwell, Kristan Sortini and Robert Burke; five grandchildren, Alexander, Jacob, Joseph, Luke and Livia; three sisters, Joan (Robert) Navoney, Edna (Samuel) Maravich, Camille (Raymond) McGowan and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. Murrysville. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306 or T2T.org. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
