Rebecca Marshall Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Sylvia Marshall, 74, of Export, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Greensburg.  She was born on April 28, 1951, in New Kensington, daughter of the late John H. Marshall Jr. and Adeline Laurel (Ashbaugh) Marshall. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, John Henry Marshall III, and Layne E. Marshall.

Becky was a 1969 graduate of Franklin Regional High School and a 1975 graduate of Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in education.  She first worked for the Rogal family in Squirrel Hill and treasured her time there.  This was followed by holding various positions within the Goodwill organization. She concluded her work history by caring for the Johnson children, Derek and Tyler, who she referred to as “my boys.”

Becky was very proud of her Welsh heritage, giving special attention to Welsh hymns and Welsh cookies. She also loved recreating her favorite recipes from her mother.

The family of the First Methodist Church of Murrysville was one of her primary focuses.  She cherished the people, most especially the babies and children.  Women’s groups and bible studies were another delight for her.

Becky loved being busy with her hands, making crafts, especially crocheting.  She could regularly be seen at the back of the church, taking in the service, with hands busily crocheting a gift for someone else.  She spent some of her free time enjoying interesting and unique television shows and eagerly awaiting the NASCAR season.

Becky is survived by her brother, James M. (Paula) Marshall; her three nieces and nephews, J.P., Brenna, and Emilee, her best friends, Melissa Johnson and Cindy Wiltsie, and her caregiver, Linda Mills.

A Celebration of Life for Becky will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 3916 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville PA 15668 at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org), the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org), the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), First United Methodist Church of Murrysville (www.murrysvilleumc.org), or a charity of your choice in Becky’s name.
