On April 2, 2022, Robert J. Carazzo died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg.  He was born December 14, 1926, in Turtle Creek, PA, a son of the late Caesar and Rosa Zanone Carazzo.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Geneva Soster Carazzo, two brothers, Mario and Louis Carazzo; and a sister, Frances Barnyk.

Robert was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and the Air Force Reserves, having served during WWII.  He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Murrysville.  Prior to retirement, he was the owner of the former Caesar’s Tavern in Turtle Creek, PA.  An eternally optimistic man, he loved spending time at the “hunting camp” with family and friends, playing cards, swapping stories, watching football, and cooking his wonderful spaghetti dinners.  Robert had a fantastic garden- growing tomatoes his speciality.  He was kind, generous and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  His happiest and most joyful moments were those spent with his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

Robert will be greatly missed by his daughter, Roberta (John) Thorkelson; two grandchildren, John Robert (Katie) Thorkelson, and Dana (Derek) Clements; three great-grandchildren, Josie, Caroline, and Patrick.  He is also survived by a sister, Joanne Barosh and several nieces and nephews.  He was especially close to his devoted nephew, Robert Bernard.

His family is grateful to the wonderful nurses, hospice staff and caregivers at Redstone Highlands.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Mother of Sorrows Church.  Entrusted with the arrangements is Hart Funeral Home, Inc. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com
